Ingredients

  • 170 grams Puff Pastry

  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten

  • 4 Cans of American Garden Chicken Vienna Sausages

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 190°C and lightly flour your work area.

  • Lay the puff pastry flat (roll it flat if necessary) and brush one side with beaten egg.

  • On the edge of the egg-brushed side, place a chicken sausage and roll the pastry around it.

  • Cut off any excess pastry and repeat with each sausage until all are wrapped.

  • Freeze the wrapped sausages for 15 minutes or until firm.

  • Cut each wrapped sausage into 1½ cm slices and place on an aluminium foil-covered baking sheet.

  • Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown, then let cool for one minute.

  • Serve with American Garden U.S. Ketchup or American Garden BBQ Sauce for dipping.

How Do You Make Perfectly Flaky Puff Pastry Rolls?

For best results, keep the puff pastry cold. Use a serrated knife to slice frozen rolls neatly without pressing them down. For extra flavor, you can sprinkle garlic powder or American Garden Italian seasoning & Marinade before rolling. Brush the tops with a bit of beaten egg to get a nice golden finish when baked. Let the baking sheet cool a little before starting the next batch to keep the pastry from softening too quickly. If you’re serving these puffs as a main dish with salad, cut slightly thicker slices to make them more filling.

What Is the Best Way to Store Puff Pastry Rolls?

Store baked puffs in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat in a 177°C oven to keep them crispy. Freeze unbaked rolls for up to a month and bake straight from frozen with a few extra minutes. You can also freeze baked puffs for 2 weeks and reheat at 190°C for about 10 minutes.
